Bedroom Tour & Decor Haul (w/ Links!)

Welcome to my favorite place in Philadelphia: my bedroom. Come tour my bedroom and see everything I’ve collected over the year to create my own oasis along a crazy busy city street. In this bedroom tour, I will go over my decor haul and how I decided to decorate my space! You can also view the YouTube video here!

The Bedroom

I wanted a clean and crisp oasis with a neutral palette. However, in the past, my bedroom was stark white and almost sterile. With that in mind, I started by replacing my white malm bed with a brassy metal bedframe from Wayfair. Afterward, I sold my ivory shag rug and purchased a medallion rug which I eventually used as the basis of my color palette. In this new space, I wanted to warm things up with more ivory, beige and sand shades. I also wanted to add a little color in the form of blue and greenery. (I am still looking for throw pillows that bring out the golden and warmer hues, stay tuned!)

As for a theme, I decided to center my bedroom around the elements, namely earth and sea. I always find myself drawn to the ocean and if you haven’t caught on, I am obsessed with plants. I used this to build my gallery wall as you can see below.

I typically mount my side tables and TV, but I found this to be problematic since I move every year. I switched out my new side tables for my childhood ones which have lasted years. These side tables are much sleeker and encourage me to keep my side tables neat since there are no drawers. I opted to repurpose my Ikea side tables into a record player stand. I noticed that my record fit perfectly inside so I went ahead and stacked them over one another. I haven’t glued them together but I find that they stay put due to the weight of my record collection. I also bought a coffee table that went on sale which happened to fit my 50 inch TV stand perfectly. It has an extra shelf where I keep my laptop and remotes.

Next to my TV, I placed my makeup desk and vanity. I also leave my ring light in this corner for YouTube filming. I added my pothos plant to add some color and greenery.

Over time, I have collected a bunch of pieces from traveling and interior design stores. Over my cube organizer lay a bunch of pieces that I adore: a screen print of a painting by a local Philadelphia artist, seashells/starfish I’ve collected from Key West/Marco Island, a hidden decanter set in hollowed-out books and a buddha statue. The organizer is partially decor but also practical. Within the cubes, I have my loungewear, gym clothes, PJs and band tees. On the opposite end is a 3 basket drawer unit which I purchased years ago from HomeGoods. We ended up adding some collapsible rectangle storage cubes in each to protect my intimates, tights and socks.

Since my room is large and longer than my previous apartment, I decided to add some additional seating. I found some stylish and extremely comfortable bean bag chairs from Walmart. Since the bean bags are low to the ground, I added an Ikea stool to act like an ottoman and a brass tray from Target. This is the perfect set up to place any candles or beverages down while watching tv. I love the portability of the chairs and can use them as additional seating in the living room.

In another corner, lies my favorite Ikea mirror and in the opposite corner lies my instruments and tripod equipment. Going back to those side tables, I leave crystals and plants under each to add good energy and to cleanse the air. I also brought ivory lamps that complement the textured white duvet cover set all from Target. Underneath my bed lie four sealable storage bins to house important items. The final touch for my bed is a fuzzy ivory blanket from Walmart which I use as a throw.

Since I live on a busy commercial street, I need curtains that give me privacy. I got light blocking curtains in taupe for the sides and placed a 100 percent black out curtain in navy in the middle. They way they are placed provide me with enough light during the day since the windows are south facing. We put two curtain rods in them so that I can lift or lower on end of the black out curtain should I need more light. I rarely adjust the panels, luckily. I find that the current setup provides me with ample lighting already.

Finally, my closet. I managed to downsize my wardrobe tremendously to fit this closet, BUT it packs a punch. I have plenty of versatile pieces that are sustainable and timeless. I have been learning to ‘shop’ in my closet and be resourceful with what I have. It’s been a great experience and I have been able to refine my wardrobe and style greatly. I am happy to share this in more detail in a future video.
