The Hollensbury Spite House

This teeny home is approximately 325 square feet. It is the narrowest home in America. The home was built to block an alley originally between two pre-existing homes. The width of the home is 7 feet wide and 25 feet deep. Allegedly, there are wagon marks on the brick inside the home from the 1830’s. It is definitely worth stopping by to take some pictures and admire the lovely homes along the same block.

Torpedo Art Factory

This art gallery is free and open to the public during the week. I spent hours exploring the various studios within the factory. There are three floors to explore and gain inspiration from. All the pieces are up for sale and on certain days you can even see the artists working in their respective studios. There are a variety of styles and mediums used at Torpedo Art Factory which will surely delight art enthusiasts from any background.

Old Town Waterfront

The waterfront overlooks the Potomac River between Virginia and Washington D.C. Here, you can take a water taxi or even go on a tour along the water. At sunset, the views are breathtaking. The waterfront is conveniently located near the Torpedo Art Factory and the Historic Downtown area.

Sunday in Saigon

The best part of Alexandria is their dining scene! Further into town is a fantastic modern Vietnamese restaurant called Sunday in Saigon. First off, the decor is fantastic and the menus are back-lit akin to a kindle. The menu has a good range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options including a vegetarian pho broth. Having sampled a variety of dishes and surveying others, it’s safe to say each dish is great.

Yagút St. Coffee and Treats

Adjacent to Sunday in Saigon is Yagút St. Coffee and Treats. Their selection of gelato is very unique and takes from a variety of Southeast Asian fruits such as ube. jackfruit and lychee. Of course this store serves Vietnamese coffee (cà phê sữa đá) either hot, iced or in gelato form. If you want something different, there are also pastries and boba available for order!

I hope you enjoyed this quick guide on Alexandria, VA! I can’t wait to return and try the Handover’s sushi! I would love to answer any questions you have and hope you have beautiful weekend!
