Aside from these, the May 2019 Spotify playlist highlights an assortment of songs that I’ve been loving that I felt needed an additional shoutout. Don’t forget to follow me on Spotify to always stay up to date with my curated finds! Now, let’s get into it.

May 2019 Spotify Playlist

Col3trane & GoldLink - Superpowers*

I absolutely the build up to this song. It really has a great production and GoldLink’s verse is extremely enjoyable. It creates a seamless pairing with Col3trane’s raspy voice.

Kuwada - Starlight*

This song is suave and light. The guitar riff is summery against the xylophone and shakers. The lyrics detail a girl who only wants to meet past midnight under starlight.

Airef - Ya Bitch Call Me Papi*

This is a song that starts off with a wonderful acoustic guitar riff before delving into some smooth bass lines. This song builds into a jazzy R&B track with some light percussion and silky vocals.

little mood & tristtan - summertime*

I’m getting ready for the summer and this song reflects that mood. The bass in this song hits so good. I absolutely love little mood’s vocalist. Her voice is gentle and effective against the darker production.

haroinfather - Lavagirl*

This song is so fun and has some more bass that really sinks through your entire body. The lyrics are playful against the driving beat and reference the movie: Sharkboy and Lavagirl.

svrite - Lifted*

This song immediately makes me want to cruise down the highway or dance around my room. It has a predominant EDM influence while still remaining within the R&B realm. It’s a great song that just flows seamlessly from start to end.

6 Dogs & Danny Wold - Think A Lot

Something I am guilty of. I also love that the song references Drake and Josh, which was one of my favorite shows growing up. The song fits the genre found within my dank af playlist.

September Savior - Runaway

Another song with hazy production and a great flow. I think that song is perfect for a playlist that helps you kick back and relax.

JVVMN - Notice Me*

JVVMN has such a great voice and this song is highly addictive. The production is light, airy and extremely infectious. If you enjoy R&B and Rap, this is one track for you to check out.

K. Forest - Replace

Taking things a little darker and slower with Replace. This song details K. Forest’s willingness to drop all the other girls for one particular one. I think that it’s a cute sentiment that she’s like three-in-one.

Still Woozy - Habit*

This is one of my favorite songs from Still Woozy. Just throw this track on and get ready to drift away to somewhere happy. The lyrics are sweet and you will enjoy this track if you good vibes and bedroom/indie songs.

BETWEEN FRIENDS - affection

Another song that falls into the indie/electronic category. This song comes from the group BETWEEN FRIENDS and builds into a really catchy song about looking for affection in all the wrong places. Something we all know too well.

Matt Champion - Fangs*

This track is so addictive and highlights the softer side of Matt Champion. It’s a love song that I adore. It’s so hazy while also being focused and purposeful.

VICTOR! - Tinder Song

Swipe to the right because I thought you were cute. I love the lyrics to this song and the production that just floats along.

Kuzu Mellow - Sunflower Feelings

This is a simple acoustic song that is short and sweet. It has a very prominent guitar riff that accompanies Kuzu Mellow’s layered vocals.

Nicotine’s Famous Honey - First Time

This song is so gorgeous and feels just like honey. There’s just something about the vocals and harmonies that truly blend well with the instrumentals.

Cautious Clay & UMI - SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS*

I adore the pairing of Cautious Clay and UMI on this track. It feels as easy as SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS. I think the lyrics are bittersweet and realistically depict a short-lived love where you wish them nothing but the best.

BOYO - Mantra*

This is a fun indie song about finding someone who is the best thing in life. This is a psych pop song that is fun to throw on in your room at any time of the day.

Dreamer Boy - Falling for the Wrong One*

From beginning to end, this song had me hooked. I fell in love with the layered guitars and the drum pattern. Dreamer Boy’s vocals are so airy and complement the layered instrumentals superbly.

Men I Trust - Show Me How*

Fans of the Marías and Still Woozy will definitely enjoy Men I Trust. This is another indie song with some prominent bass lines and airy vocals.

Inner Wave - Eclipse*

Springtime always puts me in the mood for surf rock and intricate guitar riffs. Eclipse by Inner Wave covers those bases. You will enjoy this track if you enjoy Triathalon and Wild Nothing.

Wild Nothing - Blue Wings*

Speaking of which, this is the latest release from Wild Nothing. It takes me back to the days of their Nocturne era. This song has a very distinct retro feel and summery instrumentals.

Tame Impala - Patience

I’m pumped to be heading down to Washington D.C. with my friends to see Tame Impala live. This track was a great reintroduction to Kevin Parker’s current state of mind and what’s to come.

Claud - Easy

Another bedroom pop song that has a cute and energetic beat that drives the song along.

¿Téo? & Jaden - Uno Dos*

This is another suave song that features ¿Téo? and Jaden’s slick rap vocals. It is super catchy and the guitar riffs are so clean and danceable.

88rising, Joji & BlockBoy JB - Peach Jam

Another summer song to help usher in the warmer weather. It might not be peach picking season just yet but this song is so appropriate for the season.

diveliner- eighteen again*

This is a song that I can literally play again and again. Trust me that it is worth listening to because halfway in around 1:53 the bass picks up. It goes from a solemn song to something more powerful. The song really shines in the second half so keep listening.

Etta Bond - Love Myself*

Something that I am truly practicing. This song stands as a wonderful testament to self-love and Etta Bond’s voice sparkles through the jazzy R&B instrumentals.

Sinead Harnett - By Myself*

This song is truly breathtaking and Sinead Harnett’s vocals are as blissful as ever. I can feel her emotions throughout this track and cannot get enough of it.

Goody Grace & Jesse - Too High

This gentle song features some new artists that I love. I think that this song is so cute and worth a listen.

Foreign Forest, Lund & Martensite - Actually I’m Good

This song transitions from a light indie song to a darker electronic/R&B feel.

Verzache - Needs*

I found this song via TikTok. I guess Gen Z has some good music taste if this is how they make viral videos. It made me fall in love with the song and it is also danceable and FUN.

haroinfather - cutie*

I love a song with ukulele. This song reverberates through my entire being but somehow stays light and cute. haroinfather is really good a juxtaposing different feels to create intricate productions.

Troop Brand - Indeed*

Indeed starts off with a jazzy riff before diving into some slick rap verses. It is extremely catchy and springtime friendly.

Anthony Russo - California

I have been missing California and my family lately and this song just takes me back to driving down the PCH. It’s super fun and reminiscent of Gianni & Kyle.

NIKI - lowkey*

I’ve been waiting for NIKI to come out with a new single for ages. This song is everything I hope for and more. It’s whimsical and sultry all at once. The lyrics are so relatable as always.

Shaqdi - Obvious

Another low-key R&B track with some moody electronic beats. This song is catchy and makes me want to go out on the weekends and just dance around.

Bearface & No Rome - No One Like U

This song is hazy, moody and reminds me of Cashmere Cat. This track will be enjoyable for fans of drippy effects and hazy bass.

Qveen Herby - Brunette Ambition

We love a boss babe with ambition. This song embodies my drive and ambition. I will keep going and getting better and this song reminds me to keep grinding no matter what. I hope it motivates you too.

E^ST - Alien

A track that details the feeling of feeling out of place. A feeling that we all have experienced at one point or another. I think that the pre-chorus is super catchy and leads into a danceable chorus.

Tennis - In the Morning I’ll Be Better

A retro-inspired ballad from Tennis that I can throw on during lazy mornings. I think that this song has some gorgeous vocals and harmonies. Totally worth checking this group out.

half•alive - still feel.

This is a funky indie song that makes you want to dance. I love the riffs in between the chorus the verses in particular.

Beach Fossils - May 1st

Closing the May 2019 Spotify playlist with none other than May 1st. I had to include this summery track because the title just fits perfectly. I love surf rock and this song is pure joy in musical form.
